How to post.
Everything the board does, it does from an email. There is nothing else to learn.
A notice
Email your posting address from an address that can post. The subject is the title. The message is the notice. Photos attached to the email go on the board, up to four, the right way up and sized for the page.
Bold, colours and fancy layouts are set aside; every notice is styled to match the website. Blank lines make paragraphs. Web addresses become links.
Your signature, "Sent from my iPhone" and anything quoted below a reply are stripped, so forwarding an email from someone else works as you'd hope.
How long it stays up
A month, unless you say otherwise. Write until 14 October, or until 14/10, anywhere in the message and it comes down at the end of that day. The date is shown on the notice.
Pinning
Start the subject with Pin: and the notice stays at the top, full width, until it comes down.
Changing and removing
Send an email with the same subject again and the notice is replaced, keeping its place. Reply REMOVE to the confirmation we sent, or send an email with the subject Remove: the title, and it comes down.
Every post gets a confirmation reply within a minute. If none arrives, the email did not come from an address that can post, or the address was mistyped.
Who can post
The address used at signup can post. Subject Add poster: name@example.org lets someone else post; Remove poster: name@example.org takes them off. Posters? lists everyone. A board always keeps at least one poster, and you cannot remove yourself.
Mail from anyone else is dropped silently, and a forged sender fails on the way in. Visitors to the website can only read.
What it is called
The heading on your website is whatever you told us at signup: Noticeboard, Latest news, Parish notices, Blog. Subject Rename: Latest news changes it, and the replies follow. If your page already has a heading above the widget, add data-heading="off" to the element and the bar disappears.
Help
Send an email with the subject Help to your posting address for the short version of this page. Anything else, info@meticstate.co.uk.
